In Pakistan, health workers distributing the anti-polio vaccine have been treated with extreme distrust, with Islamic militants claiming it is a conspiracy to harm their people. Today, Dar-ul-Uloom Haqqaniya Madrasah, one of Pakistan’s most prominent seminaries, issued a fatwa, or decree, declaring that the vaccine is both legitimate and Islamic and urging parents to ensure their children receive it.
