One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. ~ Luke 8:22
Loving God: we come to you today with great uncertainty of our governments, in our neighbors, and within ourselves. Help us to cross over to the other side, and give us the courage to climb in Your boat.
Be with us, O God.
We thank you for the gift of graduation, which many children and adults are doing during this season. As they cross this lake, please guide their futures to glorify You and to bring more certainty to our governments, our neighbors, and ourselves.
Be with us, O God.
We ask you to be among the uncertain: those who grieve, who are newly pregnant or parenting, who face medical decisions, who are divorcing, who are healing, who cannot or have not yet conceived, who are incarcerated, and who are the victims of trafficking. May their crossing over be peaceful.
Be with us, O God.
We pray that all children experience a world of food, shelter, and love. May those who lack these essential find boats to carry them across, and may they not suffer or be abandoned by their governments, neighbors, or us.
Be with us, O God.
We ask you to cross over to the other side of the lake all of the turmoil in our world: in the suicide bombers wreaking havoc and murder the Middle East, in the cyberattacks plaguing corporations and individuals across the world, and in the civil unrest we see throughout the Americas.
Be with us, O God.
We pray for you to be among those who are persecuted or abused by their governments, neighbors, and us. We pray that they find new shores.
Be with us, O God.
We ask you to be among our daily uncertainties, whether at work, while volunteering or traveling, or at home. Help us to cross over to the other side, and give us the courage to climb in Your boat calling to mind constantly that You are faithful, compassionate, just and loving.
Amen.
