God of all seasons, of all people, of each other… may we be lifted into a new season and a new way of being in your world.
- A world without school shootings, as another has just taken place in Georgia, United States.
- A world without war and conflict, as this past week a 16-year old Palestinian girl was buried after reportedly having been killed, in her home, by Israeli forces of the occupied West Bank.
- A world without corruption of elections or traumatic transfers of power, as the United States has accused Russia of 2024 election interference.
- A world where desperation isn’t created to the point of needless deaths. This past week more drownings have been reported in the English Channel as migrants from the troubled east African nation of Eritrea seek asylum and safety.
We lament there are those who believe there can be reconciliation without justice; justice without understanding; understanding without standing in the shoes of the other; standing without being still.
May we be prompted in these times to be more expansive and more inclusive as we accept our responsibility to make God’s reign visible through gracious generosity, empathy, compassion, and understanding.
This is our prayer. Amen.
