Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
Luke 12:27
“I am that I am.” Exodus 3:14
Everywhere I turn, you are there.
Every flower
Every blade of grass
Every feather
Every rock
Every cloud
Every star, every rainbow, every breeze that blows.
Every animal and every bug and every person…
You are omniscient.
How can I be you when you are so many and everything in all ways and always? As you tell me in Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image…” When will I know if I am truly being of service to you, an instrument of your will, and not performing in a way that is self-serving?
How do I know the difference? God, cleanse me of my ego which works so diligently to delude me of your glory. It seems that perhaps the monster isn’t really under the bed but that it looks back at me at times when I catch my reflection. But this reflection is not my “God-self,” this reflection is my monster, my ego. Help me see past it to my true soul, my God-self, the self made in your likeness. May I serve only you and may I have the wisdom to know the difference.
We send our hearts and hands in prayer in all directions to every one and every thing. To mention just a few:
- HUALIEN, Taiwan, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, the worst in 25 years;
- HELSINKI, Finland, a school shooting killed a 12 year old boy and injured others. The shooter believed to be a 6th grade student;
- BEIJING, China, rare storms and typhoon like winds since March 31st have killed at least 7 people;
- HARARE, Zimbabwe, drought conditions have caused Zimbabwe government officials to declare a national disaster as their country needs more than $2billion in aid to feed millions facing hunger;
- RAFAH, Gaza Strip, the bodies of 6 foreign World Central Kitchen workers killed in Israeli airstrike are on their journey home (AP News);
- Across the World, the rights and safety of all individuals regardless of race, beliefs, sexual identities; and
- Across the World, all lives suffering the devastation from war; and so much more.
Here in my heart, God, as my brother (and so many others), is making his way from this world to yours, please embrace him and hold him tightly. I am so grateful that he found his faith in you later in life. I am grateful for the time you granted me to be with him here on Earth. I understand that he is needed somewhere else and that this is his time to go. I just ask that his journey home to you be painless and peaceful and that he is one with you in his heart and soul. Please also hold close all of us who love him so dearly here. He touched and served so many lives. Godspeed my brother.
Across the World, to all the “guardian angels” who selflessly and continuously give to others without even so much as a thank you: We know you are there; We see you; We feel you. Your deeds are not unnoticed. We may not know who you are with certainty but we thank you. Please don’t stop…
Lord, our Spring flowers are blooming. Thank you for this reminder of renewal. In this first week after Easter, a most holy Christian holiday, we bow in gratitude for the omniscience of your holy spirit.
The rains wash clean the earth beneath my feet, the air around me gives me breath. And you, who grants me life, please guide me every day and in every moment to use this time wisely and well so that I may be an instrument of your will. Always. Amen.
