O Lord,
We grow in our awareness of you as we enter this time of prayer.
You never leave any one of us. We are grateful for your enduring love.
Help us to remember that all are your beloved children.
God, there are times when we are not our best selves. Help us to become more aware of these times and learn from them, that we can bring about your peace and holy change within ourselves and wholeness in our world.
We humbly and intentionally lay these issues before you:
The suffering and month-long protests in Bangladesh that have lead to the loss of 91 lives on Sunday night and 455 in the weeks of violence ending in the toppling of “Iron Lady” Sheikh Hasina’s fifteen year reign of power.
We ask for commonsense and safety amid the riots in the UK, where anti-muslim sentiments are growing,
For conflicts around the globe where lives are lost due to war, violence and starvation, including Palestine and Ukraine, and for Sudan as the civil war continues we bow our heads in sorrow.
As the United States prepares for federal, state and county elections in just three months, we pray for your guidance.
Sustain Pope Francis, (Vatican) who seeks to open the Catholic Church to more challenging and uncomfortable discussions around social justice.
As Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has answered a call by student protestors to provide interim government leadership in Bangladesh. Protect him as he shoulders this nation out of oppression and heartache.
We express thanksgiving at the limited injuries and minimal destruction as a mega earthquake eighteen miles deep in the ocean occured this Thursday near Miyazaki the capital city of Miyazaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan. We are grateful for the seimologists who monitor and predict, warn and educate on the shifting of tectonic plates and especially activity in the Nankai Trough a mega earthquake (8 – 9) prone zone that is being closely watched.
We pray for all our world leaders, that you would break open their hearts to the abhorrence of war, famine, poverty, oppression, and dehumanization of all kinds. Help each of them be more open to your love, to your justice, to your mercy, and to your healing.
O Lord, hear our prayers and meditations. Open our ears and minds to hear your voice and counsel. Embolden us, encourage us as we embody your love in this beautiful, broken world.
Amen and may it be so.
