Lover of all who are wounded, heal us.
Lover of all who wound, forgive us.
Lover of all that is, save us.
We close our eyes and dream of a life where tenderness reigns,
Where drops of dew caress our cheek in the morning
And linens of the softest moss invite us into slumber
As the moon serenades us with her beauty.
We long for the freedom to zig and zag into any country in the world
Without the fear of guns, threats of violence and the smell of hatred.
To run in a field of a thousand yellow daffodils and never get tired.
To order coffee and pastries in every language with the vowels dancing on our tongue.
And when we awaken, sweat heavy on our brow,
We wonder: where have you been, Great Lover?
Are you asleep under the sea?
Do you not see the debris that is all around us?

How do we make sense of intense hatred?

The tragedy is deep and widespread.
Beloved, hear our cries echoing throughout the world.
Smell our blood as it seeps into the corners and crevices.
Taste our tears, a sign of our anguish.
See us, Beloved, and give to us strength and courage
To love one another as you love us.
Amen.
